Trip to the USA
I have just returned from a few weeks away in the USA. Part of my trip was visiting one of my very favourite places on this earth, that is Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Not only is the landscape spectacular, so is the wildlife and the peace and tranquility and excitement of being out in "the wild". I am blessed to have a close friend to share these fun trips taking reference photos, hiking and just enjoying the beauty of nature. Due to family committments, which was the other part of the trip, I was a bit early in the season for the fall rutt and most of the wildlife remained elusive, preferring to stay up in higher country until the cooler weather arrives. I still saw some wonderful sights including bison, elk, mule deer, coyote and moose. Top of the list though was a sighting of gray wolves in the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone. Too far away to photograph, I watched for ages, absolutely tranfixed by their antics, a litter of wolf pups playing on the edge of the woods through the binoculars. How rare indeed to be able to witness this event, just being in the right place at the right time!
Armed with 'bear spray' I am enjoying a hike in Yellowstone National Park.
