ART AND THE ANIMAL

I am so thrilled that my drawing 'Scent of lions' has been juried in to the 54th Annual Art and the Animal exhibition which opens in Denver Colorado on August 23rd. I have not entered this show for about ten years, so decided I'd give it a shot this year and am so happy to have been selected. The inspiration for the drawing came from my last trip to Tanzania when our vehicle came across three male lions that had killed overnight in a riverbed. At the same time this herd of elephants had come down for a drink but were cleary agitated by the fresh scent of the lions. My aim was to capture the movement and emotion that was running through the herd as they lingered with trepidation.
